Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy (hereinafter referred to as "Policy") establishes how information is handled when using the individually developed application "LangDict" (hereinafter referred to as "App"). Please read this Policy carefully before using the App and use the App after agreeing to the contents.

Article 1 (Definition of Personal Information)

In this Policy, "Personal Information" refers to information about a living individual as defined by the Personal Information Protection Act, which can identify a specific individual.

Article 2 (Information We Collect)

The App does not have a member registration function and does not ask for your name or email address during normal usage. The App handles the following categories of information:

• Learning content you create — decks, cards, and review history are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to the Operator's servers unless a specific feature described below requires it.
• Content you submit to AI features — text, images, PDF files, audio recordings, and imported conversation logs that you provide to translation, OCR, audio transcription, or AI deck generation are transmitted for processing as described in Article 4.
• Usage and device data — the App uses Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics to collect app usage events, crash reports, device model, OS version, app version, and app-instance identifiers, in order to improve stability and the service.
• Purchase information — subscription and purchase status is processed through Google Play / the App Store and the purchase-management service RevenueCat, using anonymized identifiers. The Operator never receives your credit card details.
• Referral data — if you use referral codes, an anonymous user identifier and the codes involved are stored on the Operator's servers to validate referrals and prevent abuse.
• Survey responses — if you choose to answer an in-App survey, your answers are stored on the Operator's servers together with an anonymized identifier.

Article 3 (Purpose of Use)

The Operator uses the collected information for the following purposes:

• Providing the App's features, including AI-assisted features
• Providing and supporting paid plans
• Analyzing usage patterns, fixing crashes, and improving the service
• Preventing fraud and abuse
• Responding to user inquiries
• Other purposes individually agreed upon

Article 4 (AI Processing and Third-Party Services)

To provide AI-assisted features, content you submit (text, images, PDF files, audio recordings, and imported conversation logs) is transmitted to and processed by Google's Gemini API. This content is used to generate the requested output and is handled in accordance with Google's applicable API terms. The Operator does not use your submitted content to train AI models and does not sell it to anyone.

The App relies on the following third-party services:

• Google Firebase (Analytics, Crashlytics, Remote Config, App Check, Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage) — app infrastructure, usage analysis, and crash reporting
• Google Gemini API — AI processing for translation, OCR, audio transcription, and deck generation
• Google Play / Apple App Store — billing and purchase management
• RevenueCat — subscription and purchase status management

Each of these services processes data under its own privacy policy and terms.

Article 5 (Third-Party Provision of Personal Information)

Except for the processing by service providers described in Article 4, the Operator will not provide personal information to third parties except in the following cases:

• When user consent is obtained
• When required by law
• When necessary to protect human life, body, or property, and obtaining user consent is difficult
• When especially necessary for improving public health or promoting the sound growth of children, and obtaining user consent is difficult
• When cooperating with a national agency, local government, or their contractors in executing legally prescribed duties, and obtaining user consent would interfere with the execution of these duties

Article 6 (Data Retention)

Learning content stored locally on your device remains there until you delete it or uninstall the App. Data stored on the Operator's servers (such as referral data and survey responses) is retained for as long as necessary for the purposes described in this Policy, and is deleted or anonymized when no longer needed.

Article 7 (Management of Personal Information)

The Operator takes necessary and appropriate measures to maintain the accuracy of collected information and manage it safely.

Article 8 (Disclosure, Correction, and Suspension of Use)

Users can request the disclosure, correction, addition, deletion, suspension of use, or erasure of their personal information. Such requests will be handled after appropriate identity verification procedures.

Article 9 (Cookies and Identifiers)

The App itself does not use cookies. It uses app-instance identifiers and anonymized identifiers for the analytics, purchase management, and abuse-prevention purposes described above.

Article 10 (Changes to Privacy Policy)

The Operator may modify this Policy as necessary. When modifying this Policy, the Operator will announce the modified Policy and its effective date in advance through appropriate methods such as in-App notifications.

Users are deemed to have agreed to the modified Policy by continuing to use the App after the effective date.
