Whirlune
Last updated: 3 November 2026
This policy explains how Whirlune (the "App"), developed by mibuki, handles information. Whirlune is a terminal application for macOS and Linux that brings TODOs, GitHub Issues and pull requests, Gmail messages and AI coding agent sessions together on one board. It runs on computers you control.
When you browse mibuki.dev or use its support form, the website privacy policy applies instead.
The App stores your projects, TODOs and notes, information fetched from GitHub and Gmail, requests to AI agents, conversation and run history, and settings in databases and files on the computer where you run it. If you set up remote execution over SSH, the machine you connect to also processes and stores this information.
mibuki does not operate a server that receives this information. The App does not send your data, usage analytics or crash reports to mibuki.
Connecting Gmail is optional. For each account you authorize on Google's consent screen, the App requests only the read-only scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/gmail.readonly. The App talks to Google directly from your computer.
The App reads the following from messages in the accounts you connect:
By default the App fetches messages from the last 30 days, excluding spam and trash. It uses this information only to show messages on your board, sort them into your projects, flag messages that need action, and carry out the AI features described in section 4 when you turn them on or ask for them.
The App does not send email, save drafts in Gmail, delete messages, or change labels or read status. It does not download attached files such as documents or images.
The App does not include its own AI. It uses the AI tools and accounts you set up: Claude Code (Anthropic), Codex (OpenAI), and, if you register an API key, Jev (TypeSafe). Gmail content is sent to these providers only in the following cases:
How long these providers keep the data, and whether they use it to train their models, is governed by your own account, plan and settings with each provider. Each of these features can be turned off in the App's settings.
The App reads and writes GitHub through the gh command signed in with your own GitHub account. Agents you start may create branches, pull requests, comments and Issues with your permissions.
Creating GitHub Issues from email is off by default. When you turn it on for a project, the App posts only the public name you approved, a fixed category and checklist, and a random marker. It does not copy the email's text, sender, recipients or identifiers into the Issue.
If you register a notification webhook, or let another program run the App's wlune command (for example, a chat assistant connected to your machine over SSH), that destination or program receives the information you configure it to receive, which can include message content and reply drafts. These connections exist only when you set them up.
The App's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
Gmail data is used only to provide the features you use in the App, as described above. mibuki does not sell it, use it for advertising, use it to determine credit-worthiness, or use it to develop, train or improve general-purpose AI or machine-learning models. No person at mibuki reads your Gmail data, because it never reaches mibuki.
Gmail sign-in tokens, the OAuth client settings and Jev API keys are stored in your operating system's credential store (macOS Keychain or Linux Secret Service). They are never included in what the App sends to AI providers.
The App's databases are not encrypted by the App itself. Protect them with your operating system account, disk encryption and access controls for any SSH machines and backups. The optional Web UI listens on your own computer (localhost); remote access is limited to your private Tailscale network, which you control.
Data stays on your computer until you delete it. Hiding or deleting an item on the board does not erase it from the database.
wlune uninstall deletes the App's databases, history, settings, automatic backups and credentials on that computer. Run it on each SSH machine as well. It does not remove your projects and worktrees, backups you exported, or data held by GitHub, Google or AI providers. We will update this page when the App's handling of information changes. If a change adds a new use of your data that needs your consent, the App will ask before it starts.
For questions about this policy or how the App handles your data, please use the support form. Because your data stays on your own computer, mibuki cannot view or delete it remotely.
